The Federal Fair Housing Act
The Federal Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing based on the following **seven protected classes**:

- National Origin
- Familial Status (e.g., having children under 18 or being pregnant)
- Handicap (Disability)
Florida-Specific Protections
Florida law often aligns with the Federal Fair Housing Act. While Florida does not currently have statewide protected classes beyond the Federal seven, agents and brokers at APB Properties adhere strictly to all local county or municipal ordinances that may provide additional protections (e.g., source of income, age, or marital status) in the specific areas we serve, such as Orlando or Tampa.
We are a member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and adhere to the NAR Code of Ethics, which includes additional protections against discrimination.
Reporting Discrimination
If you feel you have experienced discrimination while searching for a home, renting a property, or applying for a loan, you have the right to file a complaint. You may file a complaint with:
- The Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR)
- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO)
